Basic Data Entry and Full Data Entry
Basic Data Entry
Figure 6 The Basic Data Entry tab
Basic Data Entry is a lighter-touch method for recording metric totals. It has three parts:
- Amount: the total for the period, for example the number of FTEs.
- Evidence your claim: select Click to upload or drag and drop a supporting file (up to 30MB). Select Accepted formats to see which file types can be used.
- Comment: any context for the record.
- Employee ID
- Employer (Organisation)
- Employment start date
- FTE claim
- Job title
- Postcode (used to determine local or non-local status)
- Confirmation the role is a net new position, not a backfill, replacement or redeployment
- Confirmation of the basis for the local claim (for example, defined at project level)
- Supporting attachments (for example, a payslip) and any additional comments
A banner at the top of the tab confirms that records submitted in Basic Data Entry mode cannot be validated. Select Switch to Full Data Entry to change tabs.
Because Basic Data Entry relies on each person's own judgement of what to include, it can lead to inconsistency. Some contributors provide detailed evidence and context, while others provide the minimum.
Full Data Entry
Figure 7 The Full Data Entry tab, showing the guided fields for IM19
Full Data Entry guides the contributor through the specific fields required for the metric, reducing inconsistency. Each individual is entered as a separate record (Record 1, Record 2 and so on), and each record can be expanded or collapsed using the arrow beside it.
For IM19 (local FTE jobs created), it prompts for:
The greyed text inside each field is an example of the format expected. Hover over the (i) icon beside a field for more guidance. The small Thrive logo beside a field shows that it is checked by Thrive validation.

Tip Full Data Entry is the recommended approach where validation is in use, as it aligns data capture directly with what validation checks against. |
