Working in a Live Project
Once the project is created, it opens with the project name, reference and dates at the top of the screen. Six tabs run underneath: Information, Dashboard, Metrics, Records, Data Collectors and Story. Each is explained below.
Information
Figure 6 The Information tab, showing the project's basic details
The Information tab holds the details entered in Step 1 of project set-up: Project Name, Project Reference Number, Start Date, End Date, Address, Project Value, Social Value Target and Notes. These can be updated at any time. Hover over the (i) icon beside a field for guidance on what it should contain.
Dashboard
Figure 7 The Dashboard tab for a newly created project
The Dashboard tab gives an at-a-glance view of the project's performance. It is made up of:
- KPI tiles (top row): headline figures for the project, such as Donations, Jobs Created and Volunteering Hours. Use the Value / Social Value toggle above the tiles to switch between the amounts delivered and the social value they represent.
- Value summary: the Project Value, STEV (social total economic value) and SLEV (social local economic value), with a breakdown of Social and Environmental Value, Local Economic Benefit and Non-Local Economic Benefit.
- Record counts: the number of Approved Records and Records to Approve.
- Social Value Generated: a chart of social value over time, alongside a panel of evidence images added to the project.
- Further panels (lower down): Incomplete Reporting Slots, Target vs Achieved, and Thrive Recommendations.
On a new project, the figures show zero or N/A and the chart shows No Data Available until records are approved. See ‘Project Dashboard’ in the ‘Dashboards’ article for more detail on the dashboard.
Metrics
Figure 8 The Metrics tab, showing the project's metrics grouped by impact area
The Metrics tab lists the metrics assigned to the project, grouped by impact area, with the social value generated so far shown on the right of each. Use the search bar, the Group by dropdown and Expand All to find a metric, and + Add Metrics to add more. Expanding an impact area shows its metrics and capture periods, which is where data is added (see the ‘Adding Data’ article).
Records
Figure 9 The Records tab
The Records tab lists every record submitted against the project. Five tiles across the top count the Total, Thrive Validated, Pending, Approved and Rejected records.
Underneath, records can be searched and filtered by status or validation status, and the column icon on the right chooses which columns are shown. The available columns are Metric, Value, Period, Submitted, Updated, Validation, Status, Comment, Evidence, Inputs and Tags. See the ‘Reviewing and Approving Records’ article for how records are reviewed and approved.
Data Collectors
Figure 10 The Data Collectors tab
The Data Collectors tab lists everyone assigned to enter data on the project. For each collector, it shows their organisation (for example, Internal), their collection method, the number of metrics assigned to them and the social value they have generated. Select the number of assigned metrics to see which ones they are responsible for.
Use Filter by Organisation to narrow the list, + Add Data Collector to assign someone new, and the three-dot menu at the end of a row for further options. See ‘The Data Collector Experience’ article for more on the data collector experience.
Story
Figure 11 The Story tab before any social value has been recorded
The Story tab builds a narrative of the project's social value as data is recorded, helping to tell the story of its delivery. Until social value has been recorded against the project, it shows a message prompting you to start recording.
